Church Of Scientology San Francisco
Monday, May 25, 2009 9:53 2 CommentsIn no way am I endorsing the Church Of Scientology here so I wanted to put that out there first. But I what I wanted to write is that I recently was walking past their building in North Beach at 701 New Montgomery and I was really impressed at what a darn beautiful piece of architecture they get to call home!!
I don’t know much about the history of this beautiful building but it was certainly worth photographing to show everyone that visits SFPhotorama.com how beautiful the Church Of Scientology building was here in San Francisco.
What do you think? Anyone know any history about this building? Would love to know about it.
Harvey Milk Plaza – Castro Muni Station
Saturday, May 16, 2009 20:33 No CommentsI’ve been trying to post photos related to history more often here on San Francisco Photos (SFPhotorama.com) more and more so I have to think a little more about where to go and take pics but recently I visited the Castro Street Muni Station and thought a post about Harvey Milk Plaza is definitely needed here on San Francisco Photos.
Right where Castro and Market Streets intersect is where Harvey Milk Plaza is located. If you’re walking up towards the Castro on Market Street just look for the enormous gay pride flag and you’ll know you’re going the right direction.
By now you’ve probably seen Milk – the film about Harvey Milk directed by Gus Van Sandt and are probably curious about Harvey Milk so it’s worth walking up Market Street or just take Muni to the Castro Street station and just get out and explore the station and Harvey Milk Plaza.
In the plaza there is a bronze plaque as well as photos of Harvey Milks life. It’s definitely worth a visit just for the history of San Francisco.
Bullitt Filming Locations – San Francisco
Sunday, August 3, 2008 15:08 2 CommentsI finally saw Bullitt starring Steve McQueen which I really enjoyed and did some research for it online and was lucky enough to find this site that has before and after shots of most of the shooting locations throughout San Francisco.
It would be fun to actually go to these locations and do some photos today as most of the modern photos at the link are from 2002. Things could have changed even more by now.
The most unique location was the Daniels Hotel location along the Embarcadero with the elevated highway that ran along the Embarcadero which are both victims of the 1989 earthquake. So not the location of the Daniels Hotel is the GAP corporate building.
Pretty interesting … check out the film and this site link below and go check out the actual sites that were used to shoot this film. It would be fun!
Fugazi Building – Financial District, San Francisco
Wednesday, January 2, 2008 22:09 No CommentsThe Fugazi Building at 415 Sansome Street houses The London Wine Bar which happens to be Americas First Wine Bar. I believe there’s also a second business if not more in the Fugazi Building being Sansome Dental.
I happened to be right in front of the Fugazi Building one evening after seeing a movie at Embarcadero Cinemas and shot this picture with a very fast moving Yellow Taxi Cab. I just love the way this shot came out … although it’s quite dark it has a great feel.
