City Of Paris / Neiman Marcus Magnificent Stained Glass Ceiling

It's beautiful and it's right at the corner of Stockton and Geary streets in San Francisco's Union Square.

I love to just wander into Neiman Marcus and look up at the ceiling and think that I'm in Paris. The City Of Paris store was modeled after the many beautiful and grand department stores in Paris so I always feel like I'm in Paris when I step inside Neiman Marcus.

For something fun you should go to Neiman Marcus and try out their rotunda restaurant. It's quite beautiful and the food is great. It's best around the holidays ... a great experience!

The Hobart Building - Market Street, San Francisco

The Hobart Building is one of my favorite buildings in San Francisco. When I look at it all I see is how San Francisco could have been 50 - 75 years ago. It's a beautiful building and very classic. The Hobart Building was completed in 1914 by the architect Willis Polk.

Albers Flapjack Flour Ad - Victoria Theatre

I love this old ad on the side of the Victoria Theatre so I figured it would be worth a photo capture! I don't know anything about Albers Flapjack Flour but I love the ad. You can see it at the corner of 16th and Capp Streets in the Mission District.

Schroeder's Restaurant 240 Front Street At Sacramento

It's been a while since I've been to Schroeder's Restaurant in Financial District but I still love to photograph it. I love their beautiful neon sign so this time I've decided to photograph it. The food I hear is pretty good German food ... I thought so when I ate there but I really can't remember as it was probably 1999 almost 10 years ago. Gotta go back and try it out again.

It's a pretty old place as it's been around since 1893 - the oldest and largest German Restaurant on the West Coast.

Check out their web site below and read about their history ...

Maple Hall Building - Walgreens Polk Street, San Francisco

What is Maple Hall? When you look at the very top of the Walgreens building at 1524 Polk Street you'll see Maple Hall. I've been researching about Maple Hall online and the only thing I found was a thread on a forum mentioning that Polk Street had dance halls back in the day. There's also an article below that mentions jazz pioneer Jelly Roll Morton used to perform at Maple Hall on Polk street. I'm very curious to know what the inside of 1524 Polk street looked like before it was Walgreens. If anyone knows would love to find out.

John's Grill 63 Ellis Street - San Francisco

I love how the light from the neon sign turned out here. It's beautifully illuminated the whole area around it. I've never been to John's Grill but have always wanted to go. It's a pretty old place. I like how the sign reads 63 cocktails. I've always joked about that.

John's Grill has been around since 1908 and they claim that it's the home of the Maltese Falcon.

The Palace Hotel - San Francisco

Alright, I'm obsessed with the Palace Hotel ... well not really but I do think it's a beautiful building and it's got a lot of history. I also love the sign right above the hotel. It looks great all lit up at night. Once I get a good photo of it at night I'll definitely post it here on San Francisco Photos but for now we'll just do with this pic.

Check out this great article on Wikipedia about the Palace Hotel in San Francisco ...

Bay Bridge Reflection On Slanted Door Window - Ferry Building, San Francisco

http://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gif
I think this turned shot of the Bay Bridge turned out nice reflected from the window of Slanted Door. Slanted Door serves very YUMMY Vietnamese food. Go there very hungry and have a cocktail at the bar then wait to be seated for some of the best Vietnamese food around.

Saturdays are always fun at the Ferry Building for coffee at Peets, pastries from any of the bakeries or the farmers market stands. I'm so glad the Ferry Building has become what it is today. I love it!

Cafe Trieste - Best Cappuccino In San Francisco? - North Beach, San Franicisco

I have to say I've had one of the best cups of cappuccinos in San Francisco at Cafe Trieste ever so I really like this place. I also like it because it's so old and has alot of history dating back to the 1950's with the beatniks and all. I had my first cappuccino for the first time back in April and I've been hooked since then. It's quite amazing and almost as good as Italy. I don't know why I never went there before but now I know I will enjoy anytime.

Here's their Web site in case you have interest in learning about Cafe Trieste or get some of that great tasting Italian Roast they use to make those cappuccinos.

Audiffred Building/Boulevard Restaurant - Embarcadero, San Franisco

The Audiffred building is a beautiful Parisian style building dating back to the late 1800's. It stands out as one of my favorite older buildings in San Francisco. It's right on the Embarcadero and across from the Hotel Vitale and it houses the restaurant Boulevard. The Audiffred Building is in the National Registry of historic places in San Francisco.

I have a couple of links to some historic information about the Audifredd building below and a link to Boulevard.

Hobart Building

Here's a close up of one of my favorite buildings in San Francisco, the Hobart Building. It's a classic building with very modern buildings in the background. I actually also love the old print on the front of the building. The Hobart Building is on Market and Montgomery streets and it's right across from the Wells Fargo building and Crocker Galleria.

Fortune Cookie Factory 1 - Free Things To Do In San Francisco

Here's a shot of the fortune cookie factory on Ross Alley in Chinatown. You have to pay 50 cents to take pictures here so I did and shot several shots. This ones turned out a bit soft but it gets the message across.

Fortune Cookie Factory - Free Things To Do In San Francisco

Here's a shot of one of the fortune cookie makers at the fortune cookie factory on Ross Alley in Chinatown. It's the tiniest hole in the wall factory but they actually make fortune cookies there as you can see in the picture.

You can even buy bags of fortune cookies and they even come in 'French' (meaning x-rated - but they aren't quite 'French'). If you aren't interested in buying the fortune cookies then you can actually sample scraps or the ones that didn't turn out. To take a picture they will charge you fifty cents. Worth a visit, definitely if and when you come to San Francisco.

1360 Montgomery Street -Telegraph Hill, San Francisco

This is the building that was used in the film Dark Passage with Humphry Bogart and Lauren Bacall. I recently saw the film and I really enjoyed it ... and was a great film noir classic which Bogart was known for playing.

The building is a beautiful art deco masterpiece and I've actually been in it. Quite nice and an amazing view of the bay and the Bay Bridge!
